PNNL Remediation Decision Support to Groundwater/Vadose Zone Project

PNNL researchers are coordinating an integrated systems approach to provide scientific and technical support for various waste management and cleanup efforts at the Hanford Site. Research will be used to facilitate development of consistent data, parameters and conceptual models to resolve technical issues and support efforts to estimate contaminant migration and impacts.

Work scope includes the following:

  • Consolidate, maintain, and communicate technical baseline information and data to serve as the foundation for all conceptual models and parameter assumptions
  • Facilitate the development of consistent and defensible conceptual models to serve as a basis for organizing and addressing cross-cutting technical issues
  • Provide conceptual model and parameter data package support to specific assessments
  • Facilitate the coordination and integration of field characterization work and assessment modeling approaches.

This project provides consistent data, parameters and conceptual models to resolve technical issues and support efforts to estimate contaminant migration and impacts. Final products will include data sets, interpretation tools and conceptual model tools to site assessment teams.
